Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has announced that he has put together a new task force has been set up to take care of the problem of the global food crisis.

Tens of millions of people are suffering from poverty as well as hunger due to the global food crisis.

The biggest problem is the lack of funding for the World Food Program. The funding is currently three-quarters of a billion dollars short of what is needed and necessary.

Ban stated that governments need to help fund $755 million needed to help the World Food Program continue to be effective.

“Without full funding of these emergency requirements, we risk again the specter of widespread hunger, malnutrition and social unrest on an unprecedented scale,” he stated.
