This should give Apple a huge jump over the competition such as Amazon and others who also sell movies through digital distribution. Apple will receive new releases via the iTunes Store, at a big of a higher price than older films.

The studios who will take part in the new deal include Walt Disney Studios, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Image Entertainment, First Look Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Lionsgate.

The new releases will be priced at $14.99 on iTunes, while older releases will be $9.99.

This will make them similar to the price of a new DVD and could cut into the sales of both DVDs and Blu-ray movies.
