They will launch the 3G network first in New York City, and then expanding throughout 2008 to many markets across the U.S.

By the end of 2008, T-Mobile is confident that they will have the 3G network available in all major cities across the U.S.

The new network will provide faster data speeds, around 5 times faster than the current network, when accessing the Web or downloading content at no extra charge. It supports voice services as well.

The network is based on HSDPA, a high-speed technology which AT&T also uses.

T-Mobile stated that they already have handsets ready to go which will work on the old 2.5G network and new 3G network. The handsets will choose the best option depending on your location.
