Dell Continuing Windows XP Installations After June Deadline

July 28, 2008

Dell has revealed that they will continue sales of Windows XP beyond the June 30, 2008 deadline set by Microsoft..Boston (ChattahBox) – Dell has revealed that they will continue sales of Windows XP beyond the June 30, 2008 deadline set by Microsoft.

Except for ultra low-cost PCs and notebooks, Microsoft has a deadline set for June 30, 2008 to stop selling XP.

Dell has found a loophole though with a “downgrade” option which will allow their customers to choose if they want Windows XP installed.

There is a licensing option in Windows Vista Business and Vista Ultimate which will allow PC makers provide Windows XP instead of Vista.

Consumers are able to purchase Windows XP with a Vista license.

Microsoft still registers a Vista sale when this happens.

The computers will all include the Windows Vista installation DVD as well.

Dell will continue to do this as long as Microsoft keeps this option open.
