Clarence Thomas and Tea Party Wife ‘Believe in the Same Things’
February 28, 2011
(ChattahBox Political News)—The ultra-conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas whined before an audience of conservative law students that critics of his radical ideology and his questionable judicial ethics, may lead to the end of tea party liberty and freedom. Thomas, the former “pubic hair” jokester, also complained about criticisms of his tea party activist wife Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, who spends her days battling President Obama’s “tyranny” and “hard-left agenda,” while he does the bidding of powerful corporate interests. “We believe in the same things,” said Thomas about his wife Ginni.
Justice Thomas made his remarks, during an appearance before the 30th Annual Federalist Society Student Symposium at the University of Virginia School of Law. Thomas delivered the keynote speech, at a time when he has come increasingly under fire for his questionable judicial ethics, while his wife is raising eyebrows influence peddling members of congress as a tea party lobbyist.
Justice Thomas’ impartiality in deciding court cases has been rightfully questioned. He attended a right-wing fundraising symposium organized by the billionaire industrialist Koch brothers. The Koch brothers had much to gain from the Citizens United decision that Thomas ruled in favor of. And the Kochs publicly oppose the healthcare reform law, which is on its way to a hearing before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Further troubling is Thomas’ disregard for ethical rules. Justice Thomas, for over a decade, submitted false financial disclosure reports listing no income for his wife Ginni, when in fact she earned hundreds of thousands of dollars from conservative sources.
But during his recent remarks, Thomas took on a defiant tone and defended his wife’s controversial tea party activities.
The Politico writes:
“At one point Thomas recognized his wife in the audience and suggested she was being targeted for her beliefs, telling the audience, according to the recording, “my bride is with me, Virginia Thomas. And some of you may know her. But the reason I bring that – specifically bring it – up is there is a price to pay today for standing in defense of your Constitution.”’
“Thomas said his wife “started her organization to give 24/7 every day in defense of liberty,” and said he shared her principles.”
‘“We are equally yoked, and we love being with each other because we love the same things. We believe in the same things,” he said. “So, with my wife, and with the people around me, what I see, I’m reinforced that we are focused on defending liberty. So, I admire her and I love her for that because it keeps me going.”’
