FDA Comes To Defense Of BPA In Plastic Baby Bottles
May 17, 2008
New York (ChattahBox) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration came to the defense of the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) this week. The FDA stated that the chemical is safe for use in plastic baby bottles.
The FDA has been under a lot of pressure to come out and talk about BPA ever since a study was released which showed that it can cause developmental problems in children. The FDA does not believe this is true at all though.
The FDA’s associate commissioner for science, Norris Alderson, testified this week about the safety of BPA in front of Congress.
He insists that all studies the FDA has seen show that the chemical is safe for use. He told Congress that “food contact materials containing BPA currently on the market are safe, and that exposure levels to BPA from these materials, including exposure to infants and children, are below those that may cause health effects.”
This has not stopped retailers such as Wal-Mart, Toys ‘R’ Us and many more from pulling all plastic products with BPA.

Why should we even question when it comes to our children?
