CDC Wants Artificial Turf Fields Tested For Lead
June 21, 2008
New York (ChattahBox) - The CDC has stated that they want all artificial turf fields tested for lead.
The CDC has stated that older artificial turf is made out of nylon or nylon/polyethylene blend fibers.
When they get older and beaten up, they can give off a great deal of lead, causing levels of exposure that can cause serious health issues.
The newer artificial turf is not an issue as it is made out of polyethylene fibers.
The CDC has stated that those most at risk include children under the age of 6, and that all older fields should be tested.
