Vitamin D Levels Linked Directly To Risk Of Death
June 24, 2008
New York (ChattahBox) - A new study has linked levels of vitamin D to your overall risk of death. Vitamin D is known to come from sunlight exposure, as well as vitamin supplements.
In the past, low vitamin D levels have been linked to an increased risk of cancer, fractures, poor immune system, cardiovascular disease, etc.
A new study has added a major thing to that list, as Dr. Harald Dognig from the Medical University of Graz in Austria ran the study.
The study looked at the vitamin D levels of 3,300 patients over the course of 7 years.
What they found was that the death rate of those in the study was highest among those with low levels of vitamin D.
The study linked directly the risk of death, and vitamin D levels.
It was published in the June 23 edition of the Archives of Internal Medicine.
