The boy suffered from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma but was originally doing well thanks to the medication he was on.

Things took a turn for the worst though, according to prosecutors, when the mother denied her son his cancer medication. This allowed his cancer to return, as the boy now has only a 10% chance to live, compared to his 90% chance not long ago.

Kristen Anne LaBrie appeared in Salem District Court in Salem, MA on Monday to face a charge of reckless child endangerment, which she pled not guilty to. She was later released on personal recognizance.

The news broke after a doctor from the Massachusetts General Hospital flied a report of suspected neglect with the Department of Social Services. This came after the doctor noticed that the cancer had returned in the boy, which should not have happened if he had been taking his medication.

The mother faces over 2-years in prison.
