The CDC updated the tally for the salmonella outbreak Thursday, revealing that 922 people in 40 states have fallen ill from salmonella Saintpaul since April. Over 100 have been hospitalized to date thus far.

The source of the salmonella outbreak is not yet known, but they are now looking beyond tomatoes, at products such as fresh salsa.

Fresh salsa contains tomatoes, among many other products.

As of right now, only fresh salsa made in the home or at a restaurant is being looked at. Canned salsas are not included in the search.
