The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is pushing for stronger black box warnings on the labels of 11 epilepsy drugs..Washington (ChattahBox) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is pushing for stronger black box warnings on the labels of 11 epilepsy drugs.

The FDA will be instructing the companies who manufacture the epilepsy drugs to update their labels with black-box warnings, due to suicidal behavior linked to the drugs.

On Thursday, an FDA-sponsored meeting is planned as a committee of medical experts will try to talk further about the troubles with the drugs.

Drugs whose labels will be updated include Gabitril from Cephalon, as well as Trileptal from Novartis AG, and Lyrica from Pfizer.
