Ever since the salmonella outbreak began back in April, federal investigators have been looking at Mexican tomatoes as the likely source of the outbreak.

The CDC has recently announced that the infections have impacted over 1,000 people across over 40 states.

Mexico’s agriculture mystery stated that they conducted a two-week trial along with the FDA, and found that their tomatoes were free from salmonella.

Mexican officials are demanding that the FDA come out and recognize their data which shows their tomato crop to be salmonella free.

Federal investigators are now looking beyond tomatoes to peppers, among other sources.
