Obese Men Face Increased Problems With Fertility

A new study has shown that men who are obese or have diabetes face increased problems with fertility...Boston (ChattahBox) – A new study has shown that men who are obese or have diabetes face increased problems with fertility.

In total, nearly 5,500 men over a period of 17-years took part in the study.

What they found was that men who had a body mass index of over 30% had 60% less seminal fluid than men of normal weight.

This put them at a 40% increased risk of having sperm abnormalities compared to men who were of normal weight.

The fat tissue in obese men is believed to have a major impact on the metabolism of sex hormones.

The study was presented at the 24th annual conference of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology in Barcelona, Spain.
