Tomato growers in the state of Florida are urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to confirm that their tomato crops are free from salmonella.Washington (ChattahBox) – Tomato growers in the state of Florida are urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to confirm that their tomato crops are free from salmonella.

The FDA to this point has cleared only 19 counties in the state of Florida. Florida makes up over 50% of the fresh tomato supply in the entire U.S.

Tomato growers in the state have been hit hard since the salmonella outbreak began, and the investigation focused on tomatoes.

Since then, tomatoes are no longer the main focus, and growers want everyone to know their crops are salmonella free.
