First Human Cases Of West Nile Reported In Arkansas This Year

According to the Arkansas Department of Health, the first two human cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed in the state for this year.Boston (ChattahBox) – According to the Arkansas Department of Health, the first two human cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed in the state for this year.

Last year, the state recorded 20 human cases in total, along with 1 death.

These are the first 2 cases of 2008, and were reported in Central Arkansas.

Health officials state though that troubles extend across the state, as they want people to stay protected.

The peak West Nile season runs until early Fall, and people are being told to avoid being outside at dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.

Clothing which covers your skin and bug repellent are also helpful.
