Alzheimer’s Drug From Medivation Helps Patients Fight Disease

According to new study, a new Alzheimer's drug from the company Medivation Inc. helps people suffering from the disease, by helping them fight symptoms.Washington (ChattahBox) – According to new study, a new Alzheimer’s drug from the company Medivation Inc. helps people suffering from the disease, by helping them fight symptoms.

The experimental drug from Medivation is known as Dimebon, and performed quite well in a study involving 183 Alzheimer’s patients from 11 different sites throughout Russia.

Patients treated with the Medivation drug showed improvement in Alzheimer’s disease symptoms, compared to those patients who received a placebo.

As the study progressed, Alzheimer’s patients showed improvement for a full year.

The plan now is to expand the study to over 500 Alzheimer’s patients, and seek U.S. and European approval by 2010.

The study will be published in the journal The Lancet.
