Federal officials have revealed that Hispanics in the U.S. make up 22% of new HIV and AIDS cases....Washington (ChattahBox) – Federal officials have revealed that Hispanics in the U.S. make up 22% of new HIV and AIDS cases.

The Hispanic population in the U.S. makes up only 14% of the total population, but the report shows that this small group makes up 22% of all new cases of HIV/AIDS.

The report included 33 states, and Puerto Rico, but did not include California, which is made up of nearly 40% Hispanic people.

The report stated that up to one in four gay Hispanic men have HIV, a rate far higher than other groups in the U.S.

The Washington Post reported on a quote from CDC epidemiologist Kenneth Dominguez, stating that “They do not have health insurance. They may turn to drugs or alcohol. All of these put a migrant at higher risk.”

The main reason this could result from includes cultural barriers, language problems, etc.
