New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates have joined to pledge $375 million to fight the global tobacco epidemic...Washington (ChattahBox) – New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates have joined to pledge $375 million to fight the global tobacco epidemic.

The two billionaires came together Wednesday, as they are uniting to fight the global tobacco epidemic, and are doing so by announcing to pledge the $375 million to the cause.

The two are going to be working closely with governments of developing countries such as India and China to slow the use of tobacco.

Bloomberg will be giving $250 million, while the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will invest $125 million over the course of the next four years.

Gates spoke when announcing the pledge, stating “Smoking is an epidemic that can be stopped, and we want more people to get involved.”
