Grocery Store, After Salmonella Warning, Recalls Jalapeno Peppers

A company by the name of H.E. Butt Grocery Co. has, following a salmonella warning put out by the FDA, voluntarily recalled all fresh jalapeno peppers from their grocery stores....Boston (ChattahBox) – A company by the name of H.E. Butt Grocery Co. has, following a salmonella warning put out by the FDA, voluntarily recalled all fresh jalapeno peppers from their grocery stores.

Any item that contains fresh jalapeno peppers from its HEB and Central Market grocery stores will be removed from the shelves, with the company having roughly 300 stores located in both Texas and Mexico.

This comes just days after U.S. Food and Drug Administration investigation )(FDA) stated that they found fresh jalapeno peppers contaminated with the Salmonella saintpaul bacteria

The Salmonella saintpaul bacteria is the same strain responsible for the outbreak which has sickened 1,200 people across 43 states in the U.S. since April.

As of now, the FDA is warning people to avoid fresh Jalapeno peppers, often used in salsa, as wella s pico de gallo.

The recall does not include any canned, cooked, or pickled jalapeno peppers, only the fresh variety.
