The tomato industry is seeking compensation due to the hit they took following the link to the nationwide salmonella outbreak..Washington (ChattahBox) – The tomato industry is seeking compensation due to the hit they took following the link to the nationwide salmonella outbreak.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has come out and stated that tomatoes are safe to eat once again, not linked to the salmonella outbreak any further.

Since then, Rep. Tim Mahoney, a Democrat from Florida, has come out and is pushing for tomato growers to be reimbursed, compensated for losses suffered by the salmonella link.

The compensation would result in paying out a great deal of money to make up for losses they had to endure during the outbreak.

This all comes as the FDA has linked jalapeno peppers to the salmonella strain in Texas, with the actual peppers coming from Mexico.
