Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill into law, making history as California is now the first state to put a trans fat ban in place.

California has become the first state to put a trans fat ban in place, building off the mounting evidence that trans fat is bad for your health.

Starting in 2010, all state restaurants will have to stop using trans fat, and this will carry over to baked goods by the year 2011.

California has become the first state to ban the use of trans fat, as in the past it was just cities issuing bans, the most notable being New York City.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the bill into law after research from scientists and doctors showcased that consuming trans fats can increase a person’s chances of developing coronary artery disease.
