The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted in favor of a ban which would prohibit the sale of tobacco in pharmacies..San Francisco (ChattahBox) – The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted in favor of a ban which would prohibit the sale of tobacco in pharmacies.

The vote came in at 8-3 in favor of the ban, as San Francisco is the first city in the U.S. to appear poised to put it into effect for good.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom proposed the ban not too long ago, which will stop any pharmacy, no matter what size, from selling tobacco products.

Any pharmacy that does not follow the ban will be fined up to $1,000.

The idea behind the ban is pretty simple, as many believe a drug store should only sell products that help people, not cause harm.
