The idea behind the International AIDS Conference is to unite people to try and find an HIV vaccine.

For years, researchers have been struggling to find an HIV vaccine, but have been handed setbacks due to the fact that the HIV virus mutates year to year.

Recently, there have been quite a few setbacks with HIV vaccines, as overall progression has slowed quite a bit.

The hope is that the International AIDS Conference can once again garner enough attention from researchers to get them to keep their eye on the price, and find an HIV vaccine.

The United Nations and World Health Organization have stated that the number of people living with HIV in 2007 has declined from the year before, and deaths from AIDS are leveling off as well.

The hope is that treatment and prevention can continue to progress to the point where the decline continues, and an eventual vaccine is developed.
