The Iowa Department of Public Health has confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus in the state this year..Des Moines (ChattahBox) – The Iowa Department of Public Health has confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus in the state this year.

The report was released late last week, revealing that an adult woman who lives in the western part of the state has been infected with West Nile.

This comes as the West Nile virus continues to pick up and progress across the U.S.

The West Nile virus is at its peak in August and earkt September.

The best way to protect yourself is to stay indoors at dusk and dawn, and to use both protective clothing, as well as bug repellent.
