Gilead AIDS Drugs Could Be Used As HIV Prevention Tools

Gilead Sciences Inc. will be putting their AIDS drugs to the test to see if they can work as HIV prevention tools.........Washington (ChattahBox) – Gilead Sciences Inc. will be putting their AIDS drugs to the test to see if they can work as HIV prevention tools.

The AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition announced that seven large studies will be testing out the AIDS drugs from the company, to see if they are effective at all in preventing HIV in people who are already at an increased risk for the virus.

The United Nations recently reported that there are 33 million people infected with HIV around the world, with 2.7 million new cases every year.

Gilead’s Viread and Truvada drugs could prove to be effective over time.

This new scomes as the 17th International AIDS Conference kicks off in Mexico City.
