Amerigroup Reaches $225M Settlement In Medical Fraud Case

The U.S. Department of Justice has reached a settlement with Amerigroup Corp, which will have Amerigroup paying a $225 million settlement from a medical fraud case....Washington (ChattahBox) – The U.S. Department of Justice has reached a settlement with Amerigroup Corp, which will have Amerigroup paying a $225 million settlement from a medical fraud case.

Amerigroup Corp, according to reports, has been found guilty of excluding pregnant women from health coverage. They had already been handed a fine of $334 million in a judgment from March 2007.

They have appealed though, with a settlement now reached at $225 million.

The U.S. Department of Justice stated that Amerigroup managed to avoid “enrolling pregnant womena nd other high-risk patients in their managed care operations in Illinois.”
