The FDA stated that the two patients died as a result of an inflamed pancreas.

Following this, the FDA wants to add more warnings to Byetta to alert patients and doctors of its potentially fatal side effects.

This reaction from the drug Byetta has caused six patients to develop acute pancreatitis since October 2007, landing them all in the hospital.

Two died, while the other four are still recovering.

Once the news was released, shares dropped for the drug companies.
