Study Shows Many College Students Consider Suicide

Washington (ChattahBox) - According to a new study, many college students in the U.S. consider suicide during their time in school.
The study was held via a survey in the spring of 2006 by the National Research Consortium of Counseling Centers in Higher Education.
It was done in the form of a.web-based survey of 26,000 students at 70 colleges and universities across the U.S.
The found that overall, 15% of college students in the U.S. thought about suicide, usually for less than a full day.
Breaking it down further, they found that 6% of undergraduate students have seriously thought about suicide in the last 12 months, compared to 4% of graduate students.
Overall, 5% of college students tried to commit suicide in the past year, with the majority refusing to talk to teachers, friends, or family.
The study was presented this week at the American Psychological Association (APA) annual conference in Boston, MA.
