Maple Leaf Foods Recalls Meat After Death, Illnesses

Maple Leaf Foods has recalled meat after there has been an outbreak of the bacteria infection listerosis in Canada....Washington (ChattahBox) – Maple Leaf Foods has recalled meat after there has been an outbreak of the bacteria infection listerosis in Canada.

To this point, one person has died, with roughly 16 falling ill to listerosis.

The Public Health Agency of Canada is working to find the exact source of the outbreak, which sparked Maple Leaf Foods to recall 23 products in total.

Roughly 23 or so products were recalled, with the brand names being Deli Gourmet, Sure Slice, Schneiers, and Burns Bites

Maple Leaf Foods announced the recall of all meat from their Toronto plant that was produced starting June 2nd. They have also temporarily closed the plant.

Listerosis symptoms include headache, fever, stiffness, nausea, diarrhea, and stomach pain.

The death that has been confirmed to this point was from Ontario.
