It appears, according ot these studies, that the best way to fight obesity, may be to help promote the growth of brown fat, also known as good fat.

White fat, or bad fat, is associated with energy storage, and does not turn into muscle as easily.

Brown fat on the other hand, or good fat, can be converted far easier.

The first study was carried out at the Joslin Diabetes Centre, Harvard Medical School.

Researchers there found that a way to help promote the growth of brown fat, or good fat, is with the bone morphnogenetic protein 7 (BMP7).

Gene therapy in mice helped them come to this discovery.

The ot her study, carried out by researchers at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, found a link between a cell and the growth of good fat.

Overall, the hope is that this will result in new drugs to promote the growth of good fat, and fight obesity.
