On Tuesday morning, Canadian Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz held a news conference to update the world on the situation with the listeriosis outbreak.

It was initially believed that 4 deaths had been linked to the listeriosis illnesses reported. That is no longer the case though, as the number of deaths now stands as 12, with more deaths expected.

The number who have fallen ill has increased as well with dozens of new cases confirmed across Canada.

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. expanded their recall over the weekend to 220 different types of meats.
