A new study published on Monday in Health Affairs online has revealed that uninsured Americans are currently paying out-of-pocket expenses that come out to $30 billion each year on medical care alone......Washington (ChattahBox) – A new study published on Monday in Health Affairs online has revealed that uninsured Americans are currently paying out-of-pocket expenses that come out to $30 billion each year on medical care alone.

The total cost of medical care for Americans without health insurance continues to rise based on this new study.

Researchers from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, as well as the Urban Institute in Washington conducted the study via a survey.

Americans without health insurance spent $30 billion out-of-pocket each year for health care.

Going beyond that, they found that the majority of the costs that Medicare and Medicaid doesn’t cover, gets covered by the government.

The U.S. government spends $43 billion annually on medical care for the uninsured.

Doctors were found to miss out on $8 billion in profits annually as well.

The total cost of medical care for uninsured Americans now stands at $208.6 billion.
