Pfizer, Bristol Will Not Seek FDA Approval For Apixaban

Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co. and Pfizer Inc. are reportedly not going to seek FDA approval next year for their blood clotting drug apixaban.....Washington (ChattahBox) – Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co. and Pfizer Inc. are reportedly not going to seek FDA approval next year for their blood clotting drug apixaban.

Bristol and Pfizer were originally hoping to see FDA approval for their blood clotting drug next year, but will not be doing so after the drug failed in a phase III trial.

The trial was to compare their drug to a rival from Sanofi-Aventis, Lovenox.

Researchers found that the drug from Bristol and Pfizer was not as effective as the Sanofi drug, proving it to be a failure.
