Children Found To Have Fire Retardant Chemical In Blood
September 4, 2008
Washington (ChattahBox) - TheĀ Environmental Working Group has put out a new report which shows that kids are more likely than their mothers to have a fire retardant chemical in their blood.
The Environmental Working Group focused their study on 20 families to take a closer look at PBDE.
The fire retardant is commonly used in furniture, electronics, toys, etc.
Blood samples of kids aged 18 months to 4 years were taken, as well as samples from their mothers.
Levels of the chemical were found to be 3 times higher in 19 out of the 20 families in kids compared to the mothers.
More research will likely be held to further the study.
