Excessive Weight Gain During Pregnancy Makes Baby Fat

A new study has shown that women who gaine excessive amounts of weight during pregnancy are more likely to have a fat baby..........Washington (ChatttahBox) – A new study has shown that women who gain excessive amounts of weight during pregnancy are more likely to have a fat baby.

The study was led by Teresa Hillier of the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research andn followed 41,540 women.

The women all gave birth in either Oregon, Washington, or Hawaii between 1995 through 2003.

Researchers focused their study on medical records to look at weight of the mothers and babies.

What they found was that women who tacked on more than 40 pounds during pregnancy doubled their risk of having a fat baby.

A fat baby was said to be over 9 pounds at birth.

This is the first study to link excessive weight gain to fatter babies overall.

Researchers are urging pregnant mothers to follow diet and exercise recommendations.
