The study was done on 5,442 female health-care professionals across the U.S. and was led by Dr. Shumin Zhang of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical school.

They all had an average age of 63, and all were followed for a period of 7 1/2 years.

The idea behind the study was to see if vitamin B supplements would have any impact on the overall risk of cancer development.

They had two groups, with one group taking a daily supplement of vitamins B6, B12, and folic acid, while the other group took a placebo.

What they found in the end was that there was no real difference between the women who took the vitamin supplements and those who took the placebo.

One difference was found with women over 65, asĀ  the vitamin supplements cut their risk by 25%.

Experts feel this may have been more by chance though and have found no actual scientific link.
