The drug carried the chemical name of CP-945, 598, and was very similar to other drugs which have been pulled by companies in the drug industry.

The experimental obesity drug was in the third of three stages of testing.

Pfizer has made it clear though they will not go forward with human testing of the drug, which could have brought in $500 million in annual sales.

The idea behind the obesity drug was for it to act by blocking a brain receptor.

This particular brain receptor is responsibile for making people think that they are hungry.

Other companies who have pulled the plug on similar drugs include Merck & Co. as well as Sanofi-Aventis SA after they were linked to suicide and depression.
