A new study has found that the flu vaccine actually helps prevent the formation of blood clots......Washington (ChattahBox) – A new study has found that the flu vaccine actually helps prevent the formation of blood clots.

Researchers found that by getting the flu shot, people cut their risk of blood clots in the veins by 26%.

The type of blood clots are known as venous thrombotic embolism or VTE.

These blood clots are highly-dangerous as they can travel to the heart, brain, or lungs.

The risk of VTE was reduced in women under 51 by over 50% when getting the flu shot.

The results of the study were presented at the American Heart Assocoiation conference  in New Orleans.
