The study of 1,255 men and women was carried out by Dr. Kazuo Eguchi of the Jichi Medical University in Japan.

Researchers analyzed their sleep patterns, blood pressure, etc.

Over a period of roughly 50 months, there were 99 cardiac events.

Those who slept less than 7.5 hours each night were far more likely than those who slept more than 8 hours each night to have a cardiac event.

The study is published in the American Medical Association’s Archives of Internal Medicine.
