Lobbyists Move To Block Obama Health Reform

June 12, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – In what may be one of the most ridiculously counter-productive moves in modern politics, health lobbyists have announced plans to put millions of dollars towards a battle against President Obama’s plans on creating a universal health care system.

The lobbyists, who have likely never had to worry about how their children would see a doctor, or how their family would survive if they or their spouse came down with a serious illness, have began a campaign against health care reform.

The five largest private insurers and the trade group America’s Health Insurance Plans spent a total of $6.4 million in the first quarter, an increase of more than $1 million from the same quarter last year.

The efforts are to curtail the move to create a government run health option that would insure those that private insurance refuses to cover, and those who can’t afford the criminally high premiums and rates offered by the various insurance companies.

The American Medical Association, run by some of the highest paid doctors in the country, are also lobbying against the efforts, although they do claim to want “affordable, high quality health insurance”, according to a report by Fox News. Just not at the expense of private insurance companies that fatten their wallets.

They have said that they are willing to discuss other options currently circling Congress, though specifics have not been released.
