Breastfeeding Moms To Get Space Under New Health Bill

April 9, 2010

US (ChattaBox) – Breastfeeding in public has long been a matter of debate. But, under the new health care bill that has been termed by many as ‘Obamacare’, breastfeeding mothers will have a space in every business that will give them somewhere to feed their children, or pump in peace.

The portion of the bill would require businesses to create a small, shielded space that can be used for either breastfeeding a  child, or for pumping during work hours.

It comes after years of women feeling uncomfortable with the issue, stuck between society’s pressure to give breast milk instead of formula, and yet a lack of support when they do so out of their homes.

The law shows on page 1,239 of the massive document.

It will put the mandate on those businesses that don’t already allow women a place to express milk, though a non-profit said recently that about 49% of offices in the U.S. have them for employees.
