Porn Addiction Becoming More Prevalent in Women, Survey Says

July 13, 2010

(ChattahBox) – According to a report by the Washington Times, a survey of people with pornography addiction has shown a significant increase in the number of women with the problem.

To understand the survey, you have to know what they mean by ‘addiction’. The term is not used lightly: a pornography addiction is defined as the use of any substance, or an action, which is repeated despite negatively affecting a person’s life.

With this definition in mind, there is no actual criteria in the DSM-IV that specifies pornography as being addictive, though it is widely considered a branch of sexual addiction.

Despite this, more and more women are admitting to engaging in risky behaviors associated with the viewing of porn sites; such as watching at work, or allowing it to damage relationships, their sex life, or social habits.

Various surveys taken since 2003, which were cited by the Washington Times article, seem to show an increase in these women, and it seems to underline a larger problem.

Pornography is easily accessible, often free, and can be found in extreme categories, many of which have become so normal we would no longer consider them extreme — how many young men now believe it is normal to give a ‘facial’, or believe that anal sex is a simple practice that every woman loves to engage in?

Whatever the consequence of this, I guess it truly does show a closing of the gap between men and women’s sexual habits. At the very least, it shows a potential for a serious shift in the concept of sexual reality.

It’s not really surprising why there’s a significant increase in the number of women who are addicted to porn. Since the accessibility of watching porn inside the internet is really easy. I guess it’s just a matter of educating the masses about such issue, to have a control.

Its really sad.. I think everyone and anyone caught spreading porn should be punished severely by the authorities… After all their families, too, and the societies at large are being ruined by this virulence. There is no cure except for strict action.
