Liquid Lake Found On Saturn’s Moon Titan, How About Life?
July 31, 2008
Boston (ChattahBox) - Scientists have managed to discover that there is indeed a lake filled with liquid on the Saturn moon Titan. This had led many to ask the question if there could be life on the planet.
Scientists have confirmed that the lake on the Saturn moon of Titan is indeed filled with liquid.
Questions remain though as to how deep it is, as estimates range from very deep, to only a few feet deep.
The orbiting spacecraft known as Cassini made the discovery using an infrared spectrometer to measure the make-up of the lake.
The question comes up now as to whether or not life may be on the planet, a s scientists work to find out more about the composition of this Saturn moon.
Saturn’s moon Titan is believed to have the same chemical make-up of Earth, as both have methane, propane, nitrogen, among other chemicals.
Scientists from the University of Arizona made the discovery.
The report has been published in the journal Nature.
