New Study Reveals Hurricanes Are Getting Stronger
September 4, 2008
Boston (ChattahBox) - With big storms such as Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Gustav behind us, a new study has shown that the strongest hurricanes may be yet to come.
Researchers from the University of Wisconsin have put out a new report looking into data from over 26 years of storms from 1981 to 2006.
They have concluded that every year, the average wind speed of an extreme cyclone has increased.
This is being caused by the rising temperatures in the oceans around the world, leading to more major storms.
What they found is that with this increase in wind speeds, the storms are getting stronger, and the strongest may be yet to come.
Their study has been published in the September 4th issue of Nature.
