‘Immortal’ Jellyfish Wanders the Sea

January 27, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – A”Peter Pan” jellyfish has been discovered, that has the ability to regress back to it’s youthful state, in essence, never getting old.

The find has shocked marine biologists, who say it is the only known creature that can actually revert to a younger body once it reaches sexual maturity.

“We are looking at a worldwide silent invasion,” Dr Maria Miglietta, one of the scientists responsible for the discovery, said from the Smithsonian Tropical Marine Institute.

Because of this ability to turn back it’s age, scientists have begun calling it ‘immortal’, as it does not technically need to die, at least not due to old age.

The jellyfish is called the Turritopsis Nutricula, and there are many plans to further research how it is able to achieve something so amazing.
