Billions of Earth-Like Planets Could Hold Life?

February 15, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – Scientists attending a science conference in the US has been told that there could be billions of planets similar to Earth in the galaxy, and some holding simple lifeforms.

The theory, spoken about at the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference, is based on the number of planets so far found by Earth’s telescopes, which show over 300 within a reasonable range.

Dr Alan Boss, a researcher at the Carnegie Institution of Science, has said that while many of those planets are gas giants, and so not able to sustain life, he each of the many suns with orbiting planets could have at least one Earth-like planet, and that is they probably have life currently living their, although only in it’s simple forms, such as in bacteria.

Many scientists, however, believe that there could be more intelligent life living with out galaxy, and is dedicated to finding these planets, and learning more about the possibility of lifeforms.
