Scientists Discover The Secret To Human Pleasure

April 13, 2009

Sweden (ChattahBox) – A group of scientists have discovered the secret to human pleasure centers in a new study that looks into the importance of touch.

According to the team, the nerve ending in the body respond to a specific type of touch, the neurons activating when the body is stroked at approximately 4cm per second, with diminished response at anything faster or slower then that speed.

The research was performed on 20 different subjects, all of which were given a number of touches at varying speeds, pressures, and locations. Each subject said that the touch had been pleasurable when reaching the aforementioned speeds, and so the scientists were able to identify the precise moment the brain activated it’s pleasure centers.

“We believe this could be Mother Nature’s way of ensuring that mixed messages are not sent to the brain when it is in use as a functional tool. Our primary impulse as humans is procreation, but there are some mechanisms in place that are associated with behavior and reward which are there to ensure relationships continue.” Francis McGlone, a professor now working for Unilever, the company that owns the rights to Dove Soap, explained.
