UN Calls For Action On Increasing Bio Crisis
January 11, 2010
(ChattahBox) – Though a promise was made by world leaders eight years ago to slow down the rate of biodiversity losses in plant and animal life nothing big enough was done. Now, the UN is calling for a real step of proactivity.
German premier Angela Merkel called for a UN organized panel to research and begin taking steps against the loss of species that are effecting the world’s overall biodiversity, and causing problems for humans as well.
In the meantime, the first official International Year Of Biodiversity has been launched as a means of raising awareness about the issue.
It will also be used as a platform for reducing the damage done through city and farming expansion, as well as pollution and other issues that have resulted in reducing numbers in various plant and animal life.
