WNBA Brawl Breaks Out Between Sparks, Shock At Palace
July 23, 2008
Detroit (ChattahBox) - A brawl broke out last night during a WNBA game between the Los Angeles Sparks, and the Detroit Shock at the Palace of Auburn Hills just outside of Detroit.
Candace Parker and DeLisha Milton-Jones were both ejected after playing down to the final seconds.
The Los Angeles Sparks ended up beating the Shock 84-81 before all control was lost in the final seconds.
Parker ran into Detroit’s Plenette Pierson in the final seconds of the game, causing a bench-clearing brawl to break out between the two teams.
Shock assistant coach Rich Mahorn was involved as he was trying to break up the fight.
Mahorn is taking a lot of criticism as he pushes down Lisa Leslie, shoving her to the floor as he tried to break up the women.
Mahorn was involved in the infamous NBA brawl between the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers back in 2004 as well as a broadcaster.
Parker, Milton-Jones, Pierson, and Mahorn were all ejected.
Cheryl Ford of Detroit was injured during the brawl, and left in a wheelchair.
