Colonel Sanders May Lift Curse Against The Hanshin Tigers?

March 11, 2009

Japan (ChattahBox) – Hanshin Tigers fans may now be able to rejoice, as the discovery of a Colonel Sanders statue that was thrown into a river by Tigers enthusiasts 24 years ago has many hoping it will lift a curse against the team.

It was in 1985 that the Hanshin Tigers won the Japan Series for the first time in 21 years, leading to a night of drunken celebrations, and rowdy antics by many who had been behind the team. A small group had been wandering around town when they saw the statue, and decided to grab the Colonel Sanders statue, which they believed looked like Randy Bass, who is known for his great performance up to bat.

Unfortunately, they managed to throw it into a river, and the Tigers have not won the Japan Series since, leaving many believing that that night of fun put a curse on the team.

Luckily, a dive for unexploded bombs in the area uncovered the old statue, giving some fans hope that the curse may finally be lifted, and their beloved tigers may once again enter into a winning streak.

“We’ll be number one in Japan this year for sure,” one fan exclaimed.

We, for out part, shall have to wait and see.
